Adjustments in life

Recently we had to deal with the time change in all of our lives and for some people adjustments in life regardless of how big or how small the adjustment may be it can be difficult. We are all creatures of habit and we all like for things to be the "same routine" or "balanced life" where we sleep for 8 hours a day, work for 8 hours a day, and play for 8 hours a day. However if I were to give you the possibility of sleeping for 8 hours a day and playing for 16 because nothing else mattered I am confident that many of us would take that option.

There are some basics to being able to deal with adjustments or change in our life and it's up to us to make it as smooth a transition as possible.

The first is that we have to be physically and mentally healthy. This can be anything from going to the gym a few times a week, to eating better, or having a few less cokes or energy drinks that we all love. When the body is physically happy it will produce endorphins that essentially make you feel better stronger and more confident in life. Secondary to that is that we have to have strong mental health. Our personal life has to be in order be it a relationship with a spouse, friend, or family member. If any of these areas are in disarray then we will be distracted with it and it will make any adjustments that much harder. Finally the last piece of the puzzle is to have something comfortable with you at all times so that you can always have that feeling of something that you know.

last week I traveled to Los Angles to further my education with some business seminars and choose to catch the red eye flight at 1am Saturday night so that I could be back with my family on Sunday. On top of having to fly west to east and deal with the 2 hour difference in time I also had to account for the day light savings time and what helped me through it all was the above 3 points and yes I took my own pillow for all of my comfort.

  1. Change is very hard for some, I grew up changing friends and schools often, not as a military brat but might as well have been. Change can be very exciting if you look at it with the right attitude!
